ENISA certifies Krokanti Games as an Emerging Company

This week we received one of the best pieces of news of the year at Krokanti Games. ENISA, Spain's national innovation agency under the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, has officially certified Krokanti Games SL as an Emerging Company under Law 28/2022, known as the Spanish Startup Law.

For us, this is much more than a badge. It is an external, rigorous and public validation that what we are building has a real technology base, strong growth potential and a genuinely innovative approach within the video game industry.

What does the Emerging Company certification mean?

The Spanish Startup Law was designed to boost the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Spain and attract international talent and investment. ENISA is the organization in charge of evaluating and certifying which companies qualify as emerging.

The criteria are not trivial: the company must be young and independent, headquartered in Spain, not listed on a regulated market, must not have distributed dividends and, above all, must demonstrate innovation and scalability. In our case, the review assessed the technology behind Padel Rivals and the studio's overall approach.

What this means for Krokanti Games

Earning the Emerging Company seal opens the door to a framework of benefits designed specifically for studios like ours:

• Favorable taxation: a reduced 15% Corporate Tax rate for the first years with positive taxable income, compared to the standard 25%.
• Tax deferral during the first two profitable years, with no guarantees and no late-payment interest.
• Exemption from installment payments of Corporate Tax for the two years following certification.
• Better tax treatment for stock options, essential for attracting and retaining talent: up to €50,000 per year exempt from personal income tax for employees.
• Expanded deduction for investors: individuals investing in certified startups can deduct up to 50% of their investment with a higher cap.
• Simplified procedures for international partners and investors, including specific visas for entrepreneurs, remote workers and qualified talent.
• Access to ENISA funding lines aimed at innovative companies in their early stages.

In practical terms, this means more room to invest in the game, the team and the community instead of in administrative friction and taxes.

• Accelerate development with better fiscal and financial conditions.
